Food Feature Friday #33: Ramen Omelet Sandwich!

For many of you I'm sure you're thinking, "What the heck?". All I have to say is, don't knock it until you try it!

Growing up 'Top Ramen' was constantly in our pantry, regardless the high amount of sodium. Sometimes I'd only use half of the flavor packet or simply add my own seasoning, to control what it tasted like. In laments term, I experimented with top ramen and one particular breakfast recipe is something I still - to this day - devour. I bring to you all, my Ramen Omelet Sandwich!

This is basically a play on an omelet (eggs mixed with lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, garlic, onions, and/or whatever you'd normally want in your omelet), turned into a sandwich, with top ramen mixed in. The best part about this meal, is it's really like a fancied breakfast with random items that you have in the fridge and pantry.

What you'll need:

- Top Ramen (I got for chicken flavor usually, but the "roast chicken" is my new favorite)
- Greens (I chose to go with butter lettuce, but I didn't have any spinach left
- Veggies (I went with just tomatoes and yes I know that's a fruit)
- Chopped onion
- Chopped garlic
- Bread
- Butter
- Oil
- Eggs
- Shredded cheese
- 1 tsp. of milk (you can use half and half or even substitute milk with 1 tbsp. of butter)
- Avocado (optional and not pictured, because I didn't have any)
- Pot
- Pan

Directions:

1. Warm up your pan on medium heat with a little bit of oil. When it's heated, add your chopped garlic and onions, then begin to sautee them. Side Note: If you have a picky eater that doesn't like onions or garlic, still season the pan and oil with them and simply remove after you've finished. Simultaneously boil your top ramen in a pot of water.

2. If you want your bread to be toasted (which I highly recommend), I'd put them in the toaster now. Add in your eggs, milk (or butter), a sprinkle of shredded cheese, greens, and veggies (or fruit) into your pan and begin to mix altogether.

3. Once your eggs, toast, and top ramen are seasoned and cooked, you can begin buttering your bread and putting all the ingredients onto each slice. If you have avocado - which I so wish I did - spread it on the inside of your bread BEFORE packing the slices with the omelet and ramen.

4. Put your slices together and bam! You have yourself a delicious breakfast sandwich.

A few optional add-on's, besides the avocado, would be chopped chile's for added spice, hot sauce, mushrooms, chicken or beef, bell peppers, and salsa. Of course you could really add anything you'd love in a regular omelet, but those are just my personal favorites.

The reason I recommend toasting the bread prior to making your sandwich, is simply that with so much packed and top ramen can make your bread soggy. With the slices being toasted, you'll have a stronger "barrier". Plus toast is just better...to me at least.

Now that you have a new breakfast recipe, you can wake up and eat this for a great start tomorrow! It's the weekend and you deserve to have a put together meal. Or just grab a bowl of cereal and have this for lunch! Either way I think you're going to love this "experimental" meal.

Happy weekend Jedi's! I hope you have a great weekend filled with joyous adventures and memorable moments. Much love and keep on rockin'!
