It was midnight and I really didn't want to deal with it, so I waited till this morning to see if anything would connect. Perhaps Cox was having minor issues that could be resolved by morning. Well when we went to watch the news, everything seemed to be working again. I went on with my day.
Fast forward to 6pm when we finally got home, only to find that the internet was no longer working once again. My phone wasn't connecting, the Roku wasn't connecting, and now my laptop isn't connecting.
I noticed an unusual and unknown "phone" was connected to my wifi, so I immediately blocked it from gaining access to my Wifi. Then about an hour ago when I tried logging onto my blog, I noticed that not only was my laptop refusing to connect, but it wasn't even given the option to link to my Wifi. But there were three Wifi names that I found to be...interesting.
Three Wifi's had "Roku" in their names. We ourselves have three Rokus.
So now I'm absolutely paranoid that someone had indeed hacked our Roku's and has taken over my internet. What I can do about it, I'm not sure. I'm still unable to use my laptop (I'm currently typing from my phone), but tomorrow I plan on tackling this issue. I'll call my internet provider, reset the passwords, create new Wifi names, and figure out what else I can do to fix this.
For a while now I was concerned of something like this happening, constantly pushing it to the back of my mind thinking it wasn't anything to worry about.
The universe has been testing me these past few weeks. I'm ready for a break.
